The Biggest Reason You aren’t Getting Things Done
Finishing any task can be intimidating, frustrating, annoying, fill in the blank. You try, you fail. You decide to take control, but life seems to take control of you. How in the world are you suppose to get things done if you can’t seem to get one foot in front of the other?
Why does that seem to always be the case?
Here’s what you might be missing:
That’s right. You’re trying to get things done, but you have the wrong attitude. Napoleaon Hill talks about visualization in his book, “Think and Grow Rich”. He says you will never find success if you don’t already think you’re going to be successful. He might be on to something with this idea. Whether your goal is to grow rich or simply get the house clean, you need to have a positive outlook on whatever goal you set. If you believe you’re going to lose weight, you’re more likely to than if you doubt your abilities.
Setting yourself up for success requires a positive outlook. It means getting rid of the doubts and the self-destructive thoughts you allow to creep into your head every day. It means ignoring the standards that other people set for you. If they say your going to fail, don’t believe them, prove them wrong! Where your mind goes, your actions tend to follow. So if you’re thinking positively about your workout, your diet, and anything else you would like to improve, success is more likely to follow, too.
So how do you get more of this positivity? Well, start with tackling your thoughts. Try a simple challenge each morning of looking yourself in the mirror and saying a one sentence affirmation. It can be anything related to your goals or even just a positive reinforcement of who you are as a person. “I am a beautiful person who is capable of accomplishing anything I set my mind to today.” It doesn’t have to be fancy. Write it on a piece of paper where it will remind you throughout the day.
Keep reaffirming positive thoughts and, suddenly, you’ll realize that it doesn’t take as much effort to change your attitude. Allow that positivity to flow through every area of your life. During your workout, replace “I’m so tired, I just don’t want to do this anymore” with “I’m so lucky that I have the ability to move my body like this everyday and have the energy to keep going even when I face a challenging workout”.
It really is all about how you choose to look at things.
You might be surprised at how positivity begins to effect your whole life. When positive change happens, it tends to create more positive changes in other areas. Positivity can really become very addicting. Once you see the good things that happen, you will want more and more. But, you have to be the one to make that first step and allow positivity a place to flourish and grow.
You can choose to see things in a positive light or in a negative light. But who wouldn’t you want to go through life a little happier? Let that attitude affect your entire day and see the changes that happen. You might be surprised at the things you are able to get done with just a little bit of positivity!
